Precision cooling for data centers: what ±1°C actually requires
A data center running 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, does not need comfort air conditioning. It needs precision cooling: tight temperature and humidity control, continuous duty and the monitoring to prove it, all at once.
Why “precision” is a real category, not marketing
Comfort air conditioning is designed around occupant comfort in a range of a few degrees. Precision cooling is designed around equipment reliability, with year-round setpoints held to a fraction of a degree and monitored continuously.
FIBER OCEAN’s Datacool and Cyber Master ranges hold ±1 °C temperature and ±5% relative humidity, across set ranges of 15 to 35 °C and 30 to 80% RH, with an EER of 3.0 and above.
DX air-cooled, water-cooled, or chilled water
The Datacool Series covers more than ten configurations from one platform. Three cover most sites.
DX air-cooled
SA30 to DA120 units, 32.5 to 122.9 kW total cooling, matched to an outdoor air-cooled condenser. The simplest install where outdoor space and condenser routing are not a constraint.
DX water-cooled
SW30 to DW120 units from 29.3 kW, condensing on a water loop rated 30/35 °C in/out, for sites where an outdoor condenser is impractical.
Chilled water
SC30 to DC150 units from 38.2 kW up to 177.2 kW (DC140), at 7/12 °C chilled water, with EC/AC fans and 2-way valves as standard.
Total capacity is not the only number that matters
Two ratings decide whether a unit actually holds a room’s setpoint: total cooling capacity and sensible capacity, the part of that total that removes heat rather than moisture.
| Model | Total cooling | Sensible capacity | Air volume |
|---|---|---|---|
| SA30 | 32.5 kW | 29.3 kW | 8,325 m³/h |
| SA50 | 50.0 kW | 45.0 kW | 12,400 m³/h |
| DA65 | 65.1 kW | 58.8 kW | 16,650 m³/h |
| DA90 | 92.1 kW | 83.6 kW | 22,600 m³/h |
| DA120 | 122.9 kW | 105.2 kW | 27,100 m³/h |
Representative DX air-cooled models from the Datacool Series. A unit sized only on total capacity, without checking sensible capacity against the room’s actual heat load, will struggle to hold humidity as tightly as it holds temperature.
Control, protection and monitoring
Scroll + EC technology
Flexible scroll compressors, with an EC option modulating 10 to 100%, and backward-inclined EC fans at 20 to 300 Pa external static pressure.
Protection as standard
Phase-sequence, over/under-voltage and phase-loss protection built in, not an option list item.
RS485 Modbus
RS485 Modbus RTU standard, SNMP and HTTP/web access optional, with a 7-inch touch screen and up to 1000 alarm records on the unit.
Reheat & humidification
PTC reheat and electrode humidification built into every unit, the two functions that actually hold relative humidity inside ±5%.
When density outgrows a room-level unit
Room precision cooling covers most halls. Denser racks and AI-class loads move to row-level or liquid cooling instead.

What temperature and humidity range does precision cooling hold?
FIBER OCEAN’s Datacool and Cyber Master ranges hold ±1 °C and ±5% relative humidity, across set ranges of 15 to 35 °C and 30 to 80% RH.
What is the difference between DX air-cooled, water-cooled and chilled water cooling?
DX air-cooled units condense to an outdoor air-cooled condenser; DX water-cooled units condense on a water loop where an outdoor condenser is impractical; chilled water units run on a 7/12 °C chilled water loop instead of a refrigerant circuit. All three sit on the same Datacool platform.
What is the largest precision cooling unit FIBER OCEAN offers?
The chilled water DC140 model reaches 177.2 kW total cooling capacity.
Do precision cooling units include humidity control?
Yes. PTC reheat and electrode humidification are built into every unit, the two functions that hold relative humidity inside ±5%.
What communication protocols do the units support?
RS485 Modbus RTU as standard, with SNMP and HTTP/web access optional, plus a 7-inch touch screen and up to 1000 alarm records on the unit.
